BAPTISM
An outward sign of what God is doing in your life, and your decision to surrender to God’s will.
-
Baptism is a sacred moment—a visible sign of God's invisible grace. It marks the beginning of our journey with Jesus and our belonging to God's family. In the United Methodist Church, we believe baptism is God’s gift, not something we earn. It’s a way we say “yes” to the love God already has for us.
-
Everyone is welcome. We baptize people of all ages—infants, children, youth, and adults—because God’s grace is for everyone. Whether it’s your first time, or you’re coming back to church after many years, you are invited.
-
Water is used as a symbol of new life. During the baptism, you—or your child—are marked as belonging to Christ and surrounded by the love of a faith community that promises to walk with you.
-
No. In the United Methodist Church, we believe baptism is once and for all. If you were baptized in another Christian tradition, we honor that. If you’ve wandered and want to recommit, we offer renewal or reaffirmation of baptism instead.
-
At Second Chance, we know what it means to start over. Baptism is a powerful symbol of that second chance—a reminder that no matter your past, God is making all things new. Baptism doesn’t mean you have it all together. It means you're ready to say yes to grace, growth, and a new beginning.
